I’d like to announce the first official release of the Stealth Publish plugin (v1.0) for WordPress.
Prevent specified posts from being featured on the front page or in feeds.
The plugin’s official homepage is located at :
coffee2code.com/wp-plugins/stealth-publish.
This new plugin is part of coffee2code’s 14 Days of Plugins (new plugin #7).
Comments welcome on this post for this version of the plugin. Comments will be closed once this release has been superseded by another.

Wow this is really interesting…
This looks like something that would be really useful if WordPress is being used as a CMS rather than a traditional blog. I can think of a number of instances in which I would want to have post bypass the front page by still be available on the site. Thanks for making it easy to do such a thing!
Thanks for the extremely useful plugin! I’m using WP 2.1.3 and Stealth Publish v 1.0 works fine.
FYI I attempted to use a plugin from another source to achieve similar results, but it didn’t work for me. Yours did.
This fills such a basic, common-sense need that it’s astonishing WP doesn’t come with such a feature.
I need to reserve my Front page for posts that will appeal to all readers, and make all the other posts available by category. This is the ticket! Thanks again.
Does this work with 2.6.1?
Edit, Just installed the plugin and I will find out tomorrow if it hides a post from a feedburner feed.
Is it possible to modify the code to just exclude feeds? I’d still like the posts to appear on the front page, I just don’t want certain posts going out to my RSS subscribers.
Hi Scott,
It seems like it is the only plugin available in internet which excludes the specified posts 🙂 Actually I need to exclude only from feed but it should appear in blog homepage or in other categories. I think I should remove is_home() function from the following part. That’s it. Am I right?
if ( is_home() || is_feed() || …….
Thanks
Murat
I figured out.. and the third part as well in the if statement should be removed for homepage. Now, everything perfectly works. we need just is_feed() control. Thanks again. Effective coding 🙂
Thanks a lot. Its something I was looking for.
I want my post published on my front page…I just want to block the feed. How do I do that?
Henry
Even in WP 2.7.1, it works fine, but why don’t you provide an option to exclude from RSS feeds alone or homepage alone?
Is it possible to exclude post from frontpage appearance but leave it in RSS Feeds?
Thank you.
Same as Henry.
I want them NOT to appear in the feed only.
How please?
Thanks very much! I was searching for this 4 a long time. Now I got it. Great app. Also “I want them NOT to appear in the feed only”. I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THIS TOO.
